It had been exhausting. More so than before. Jane just giggled at the younger girls, after freeing them from their intimate position, and sent them to take a bath, or at least a shower. More awkwardness ensued as they realized, that they had both stepped towards the bathroom door together.
"I..." Claire rubbed her wrists, still hurting from the session. "Go right ahead, I can wait."
Mia blushed and nodded silently before entering and starting to close the door. She froze halfway through.
"Y-you know..." She didn't dare look up at Claire, her face was as red as a ripe tomato. "We could... go... together..." She reached out and took her friend's hand. She was strangely calm as she gently pulled her in.
Jane closed the drawer, having put everything back where it belonged. The whole experience had started to give her a faint, tingling pleasure and just ignoring it was not a satisfying option. She wasn't supposed to be thinking about her sister that way, or so she continued to scold herself, but getting the chance to be on the giving end for once was very enjoyable, considering her usual position in that kind of activity. Biting her lower lip, she thought back to those many moments and for a second or two, she could almost feel the rope on her skin.
Enough, stop it! You'll get enough of that tonight.
She shook her head and stood up, ready to leave Claire's bedroom.
The warm water ran down Mia's skin, following every curve of her gorgeous body. Claire tried not to stare, but she couldn't help it. At least that way she didn't have to look the blonde into the eyes. They both didn't speak a word while they washed their respective bodies, just wincing and blushing, avoiding one another's gaze, whenever they happened to touch.
Claire grew tired of using the word awkward for her interior monologue, but it was by far the best word to describe what was going on. And yet, she was glad to be so close to Mia. Part of her wanted to hold her even now, but she knew better than to do that. Doing so might have scared Mia or made her feel uncomfortable.
"I guess I'm done...", she mumbled, "Take your time, I'll see you in the living room."
Mia's heart jumped at that sentence. Why now? Why couldn't she just stay a bit longer, not after she had finally made up her mind!
"Wait!" She grabbed Claire's wrist with both hands, holding her back, desperate not to let her leave the shower. She met the athlete's gaze, looking right into her eyes. And words escaped her.
I was thinking. was what she was going to say.
I have to tell you. and I've been blind. and I know now. were the words she had on her mind.
I love you. was what she wanted to express.
But she couldn't say a word.
Her throat was clogged, her heartbeat slowed down and her knees went soft. There was no way she could say anything.
So she just threw her arms around the other girl's neck, pulled herself against her body and pressed their lips together.
Claire barely felt the tiles of the bathroom wall against her back as she stumbled backwards, almost slipping. She barely felt Mia's breasts against her own. All she felt was the soft, warm lips and the heartbeat against her chest that wasn't hers. Because her own heart had skipped a beat.
She put her arms around Mia's hips and closed her eyes, embracing the most beautiful moment of her life.
